One of the most characteristic trees of the Mallorquin countryside is especially beautiful to see early in the spring, making them a symbol of new life. It has had significant cultural and economic importance for the island for centuries and, not anymore, these days, has been exported to countries all over the world. As the first blossom of the year, it represents feminine beauty and watchfulness for the Chinese, while in the Christian tradition, the almond signifies divine favour and the purity of the Virgin.

In the neighbourhood, on a narrow street, I found this young boy’s brilliantly done street art. It brought back childhood memories and reminded me that happiness is our natural state and doesn’t need much.
